Stargazer

A Hawaiian woman. Is she sitting in the sea or in the stars?

I tried to make sure I had accurate clothing for her, but it’s pretty hard to research Hawaiian clothing online–you just get a bunch of ads for flower shirts. -.-#

I was inspired to do this by Disney's upcoming movie Moana (I can't wait!!!!). I'm not sure if that movie is set in Hawaii or a different Polynesian location, but I chose Hawaii for this piece.

Alcohol markers, ink, and colored pencils on marker paper. Approx. 6 × 8 inches.

Royal Violet

A woman from ancient Rome. I’m Italian, so… ^_^

The hairstyle is NOT what a Roman woman would wear, I know, but I just wanted to have fun. I like braids, and I like long flowing hair. What can I say.

At the time I did this I was going through a weird phase with my backgrounds. I tried something new, but it just wasn't working. Oh well. I think the figure came out nice even if the background is odd. :)

Alcohol markers and ink on marker paper. Approx. 6 × 8 inches.

Romanipen

Illustration of a Romani woman. I believe her clothing is in the Spanish style. “Romanipen” means the cultural spirit of the Romani people.

Alcohol markers and ink on marker paper. Approx. 6 × 8 inches.

Bronze

I’ve been wanting to do an illustration of a Sumerian woman for a long time–so here we are! I took her dress from a carving of a Sumerian goddess. I also had a TON of fun doing her hair! :)

Another weird background... eh, better to try, right?

Technically this was the last piece I completed in 2015.

Alcohol markers and ink on marker paper. Approx. 6 × 8 inches.
